Surface heating and cool temperatures aloft are expected to bring enhanced instability over much of the North Island this afternoon. Sea breeze convergence and low level moisture, from the south of Northland, through Auckland, Waikato,Waitomo and Taranaki could trigger isolated thunderstorms this afternoon with heavy rain.
