A trough is expected to move east over the country from late Wednesday through to late Thursday, bringing rain to northern and western parts of both islands. The rain may be heavy for a time about northern Fiordland, southern Westland, Nelson and Bay of Plenty as indicated with a moderate confidence that rainfall amounts will reach warning criteria.
