Residents of North Carolina reported a shaking Tuesday. Most of them surfed the internet to find out the cause but there was no news regarding it! USGS has received about 450 "I have felt Earthquake" reports. The cause of shaking is still a mystery. People think it a earthquake tremor but the seismological didn't record any earthquake in that area. The shaking was felt across parts of Eastern North Carolina. Most felt response were from Wilmington, Southport and Leland area.
If not earthquake, what was it? A Sonic Boom! Sonic booms generate enormous amounts of sound energy, sounding much like an explosion. If it is so, what was the source? Close to the area is Military training center BUT local military officials could not confirm any training underway Tuesday. The mystery continues.
USGS has listed it as an unknown event rather than an earthquake.
