From Stuff.co.nz http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/6477224/Wild-weather-pounds-South-Island

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for the central South Island, which was today pounded by rain and hail, with some stones the size of golf balls.

Have you been hit by the wild weather? Click to send us your photos

One reader from Temuka, in South Canterbury, said hail the size of golf balls rained down on his property this evening, chipping windows and flooding the conservatory.

Another resident reported his conservatory damaged with holes in the polycarbonate sheeting over the veranda.

Another said it was chaos in the New World supermarket with people having to shout over the pounding storm. Temuka resident Paul Hanifin described it as "awesome''.

"Some of them were the size of golf balls; I thought the windows were going to smash.

"It was getting close to the biggest hail I've ever seen and it was hitting hard."

MetService has warned that the areas of Selwyn, Ashburton and Banks Peninsula could experience severe thunderstorms tonight.
Cheers, Andrew
