Northland
Periods of rain or showers, some heavy tomorrow.

Auckland, Coromandel Peninsula and Waikato
Rain developing tonight, with heavy falls tomorrow about the Coromandel Peninsula.

Bay of Plenty
Patch rain developing west of Kawerau tonight, cloudy periods further east.

Waitomo to Manawatu, also the central high country
Patchy rain, clearing tomorrow and fine breaks developing.

Gisborne to Wairarapa
Fine at first. Cloud increasing tomorrow and patchy drizzle spreading north.

Kapiti Coast, Wellington and Marlborough
Mainly fine, but a period of cloud with patchy drizzle tomorrow morning in Wellington and Marlborough.

Nelson and Buller
Cloudy, with a few showers in Buller clearing tonight. Mainly fine tomorrow.

Westland and Fiordland
Fine.

Canterbury, Otago and Southland
Fine, apart from a few showers near Foveaux Strait.

Chatham Islands
Rain, clearing overnight to cloudy periods.

Tuesday
Showers from Coromandel Peninsula to Northland clearing, some drizzle about northern Hawkes Bay, Gisborne, the southern fiords and Stewart Island. Fine elsewhere.

Wednesday
North Island, fine, apart from morning drizzle about Gisborne. South Island, patchy rain south of the glaciers and brief showers about the south coast, otherwise fine.

Thursday
Mainly fine, though drizzle on the west coast of the South Island turning to rain in Fiordland.

Friday
Rain spreading to most places, but mainly fine about Gisborne and Hawkes Bay.

Much of the country could be looking at a settled day tomorrow.
 
High pressure will be draped across the South Island and lower North Island tomorrow. That will mean a mix of sun and clouds for the South Island and lower North Island. It will also mean a dry but cloudy day for the central North Island.
 
For the upper North Island, it’s a very different story.
 
The frontal boundary coming through today, bringing the precipitation to parts of the North Island will see a low develop on its northern end. That low will start out just west of the North Island tonight and then move across the NI late tonight and during the day tomorrow.
 
That will keep precipitation chances in place tomorrow for Northland, Auckland, the Coromandel Peninsula, north Waikato and western Bay of Plenty.
 
There could even be a few rogue showers south of that, but chances are small.
 
The chances for showers could linger into Tuesday.

After a weekend of little disturbances and boundaries drifting across the country, things are about get very settled across New Zealand.
 
Thanks to all these little pieces of energy wandering about the country this weekend, we’ve seen a smattering of clouds and showers.
 
The same will be true for tomorrow, mainly for the North Island.
 
But out to our west, we will see a big ridge of high pressure build off the Australian coast and head east toward New Zealand.
 
That will bring settled weather to most of the country on Tuesday. Northland and the eastern parts of the North Island may see some early morning showers, but those should be gone by the afternoon.
 
On Wednesday, that high will remain anchored off to our west. That will mean another pleasant day for much of the country. There will be a risk for showers for coastal Southland as more of an onshore flow develops.
 
On Thursday, the high will likely start to fall apart, but it should still be strong enough to keep the weather settled for much of the country. A few showers will still be possible about coastal Southland as a new front begins to advance north.
 
That same front could keep shower chances in place across the deep south for Friday as well.

An anticyclone sitting in the Tasman Sea is largely set to give us some settled weather for most of New Zealand this week.


 
From Wednesday some cloud and the odd shower will move onto the West Coast of the South Island however which turns to rain later on Thursday. On Friday this anticyclone will start to slip over the top of the North Island and a westerly airflow will start to get established over the country so perhaps later in the weekend or early next week we may start to get some unsettled weather come through.
 
For now though tomorrow is looking like a cracker of a day for most around New Zealand. There could be an early shower about eastern Northland however they will clear and westerlies may be a bit breezy on the West Coast of the South Island but apart from that expect light winds and afternoon sea breezes elsewhere.
 
Expect temperatures to be in the low 20’s across the North Island tomorrow although high teen temperatures may only be reached about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne due to an afternoon sea breeze from the northeast.
 
High teen temperatures are likely across most of the South Island also perhaps peaking in the early 20’s before afternoon sea breezes kick in in coastal areas. In the likes of Alexandra and Marlborough expect high’s of around 22 to 25 degrees however with lighter winds for most of the day.

Tomorrow is looking to be another settled day although there will be a few differences from today, perhaps a little more wind in some regions.



For the North Island expect mostly sunny weather again with light winds. In the west however from Taranaki through to Northland southwesterly breezes will pick up during the morning and become a little breezy during the afternoon, there will likely be a few areas of cloud at times also. The warmest temperatures tomorrow will be about eastern parts of the island getting into the mid 20’s in Hawkes Bay and Gisborne.
 
In the South Island cloud will push north up the West Coast during the day, showers in Fiordland then in the afternoon the odd drib or drab may move into North Westland. The east coast will be largely settled from Canterbury through to Nelson with temperatures in the mid 20’s, winds will also be light. Otago and Southland will have west to southwest breezes so a little cooler.
 
Thursday sees a similar pattern for the North Island, the lightest winds and warmest temperatures will be along the coastline of eastern regions. There is a chance of some cloud and the odd light shower in the west from Taranaki through to Auckland later in the day. In the South Island a northwesterly airflow picks up a bit so rain on the West Coast and warm temperatures with high cloud out east is on the cards.

It hasn’t happened often lately but an anticyclone is giving us a few days of gentle breezes and considerable sunshine.

It’s coming in from the Tasman sea and although some wind and a handful of showers might brush the south coast of the Mainland tomorrow the rest of the country is looking dry and settled.It might not be wall to wall sunshine but sunny areas with a few cloudy spells could be the norm.

Central Otago is experiencing very sunny and warm conditions and Alexandra is set to take the national high for not the first time this week.

As we approach November it seems that we’ll enter the last month of spring under a high but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’ll be all blue skies and sea breezes for the rest of the month.

“It looks like it’s a good beginning but as we get closer to the second week of the month it’s looking a  little more disturbed” say weather analyst Richard Green.“We should make the most of it as the following week we could see a depression delivering some moisture to parts of the country” he says.

Halloween weather tomorrow night is shaping up to be dry for almost the entire country. The only blemish could be in the far sou’ west corner of the South Island. Winds should be mostly light and mildish temperatures should be ideal for trick or treaters.

Guy Fawkes is also approaching and there could be a smattering of showers however at this point the latest data is swinging back and forth a little so it’s difficult to give a solid forecast.

The weather here is in a stable pattern this week for the first time in quite some time however eastern parts of the US are experiencing a rough ride for the first time in ages with the arrival of the megastorm.

It’s very rare that all the ingredients come together to form such a system and many Americans will be hoping it’ll be many decades again before something like this eventuates once more.

Tomorrow will yield the return of a northwesterly airflow building over the South Island ahead of a front to the south of the country, west to southwesterly winds will remain over the North Island with northeasterly breezes on the east coast.



Expect high cloud to cover much of the South Island with warm temperatures out east. Showers on the West Coast spread into Buller at night, rain develops later in the evening about Fiordland.
 
Over the North Island expect plenty of cloud in the west, there may even be the odd light shower or drizzle patch at times especially towards evening from Taranaki through to Northland. East of the Central North Island skies will begin to get brighter, the Bay Of Plenty will be a sunny. Gisborne through to the Wairarapa will also share in the circular yellow object in the sky.
 
On Friday the front mentioned previously will move northwards however it does weaken as it moves north. The most likely areas to receive rain being the West Coast of the South Island, Southland and Otago. Canterbury will get a few splashes overnight or early on Saturday.
 
The North Island looks to have similar weather on Friday as on Thursday however winds will be lighter and from the west, the east coast will have light winds and warm temperatures.

As we edge closer to summer with the arrival of the last month of spring some areas have already been experiencing a taste of the warmest season of the year and today could be another wee sample of what lies ahead.
 
It hasn't been stunning everywhere over the last 24 hours as some cloud lurked in places over parts of the upper North Island and today Northland, Auckland and a few western districts could see some more hang about but the threat of showers or any rain remains basically non existent.
 
The dreaded sou' west winds seemed to keep the cloud coming but other areas enjoyed glorious sunshine and today again we could have another repeat performance.
 
Wellinton has seen som low cloud and fog early this morning however this is expected to lift during the day with noertherlies increasing.
 
The most unstable weather appears to be across the west and south of the South Island with cloud and some rain possible and heavy falls aren't out of the equation either for parts of the far sou' west corner of the Mainland.A few spits could reach across other parts of both regions but some maybe confined just to the south and west and remain offshore.
 
Temperatures are likely to be above average for many places apart from those shrouded in cloud and norwest winds might start to develop over much of the South Island and also lower North Island areas.
 
Yesterday morning fog shrouded parts of Canterbury with a very crisp start to the day but it didn't take long for it to disappear with temperatures lifting fairly quickly throughout the region.
 
The month ahead as a whole looks a little more settled overall than perhaps October provided however as usual we can expect twists and turns at any given moment.

This weekend is shaping up a little more variable but as always It keeps us all on our toes!
