Forecast for Olympics Opening Ceremony & next 10 days.
« on: July 27, 2012, 12:23:54 PM »
From Weather Watch:
London Olympics 2012 - 10 day Weather Outlook --- Conditions across Britain are currently warm but some cold fronts are on the way and being the middle of summer that means the risk of a few thunderstorms for Friday.
However the low is well north of the UK and for those in the south only a few showers are expected, otherwise mostly dry.  The chance of a shower is around 30% on Friday. That risk increases a little by late afternoon and early evening ahead of an approaching cold front.
That front is likely to move across London around the time the ceremony starts but showers should be mostly light.
The risk of showers then falls overnight.
It will be warm though - with the feels like temperature around 20 degrees for the opening ceremony on Friday evening.
London has had a warm week, Friday's high will be around 26 degrees before the Olympics officially begin, but by Saturday the high will be 20 degrees and Sunday 21 degrees along with a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms.
WeatherWatch.co.nz says the next 10 days will be significantly cooler but not cold, possibly good news for athletes, with highs between 18 and 22 degrees.
WeatherWatch.co.nz says around half of the next 10 days have a 30 to 60% risk of showers.
