WD & NOAA Records
« on: July 09, 2012, 11:09:26 AM »
I am trying to get my head around the way the NOAA records are uploaded to ones server. After roaming around the WX and WD forum I have found that the monthly file is called dailynoaareport.htm.
Now from what I can see other months are named dailynoaareports62012.htm.

What I can not find in my travels is how these are created.
Does WD rename the month on the turn of the new month.
Like did WD rename dailynoaareport.htm to dailynoaareport62012.htm and then start all over again for July.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, there is a daily report filed each day for the current month MTD.

eg:
http://www.inmanavenue.com/dailynoaareport.htm

On the last day of the month, that is renamed to :
dailynoaareportMYYYY.htm

The current one has heading:

MONTHLY CLIMATOLOGICAL SUMMARY for JUL. 2012

So the title is correct at the end of the month...

Note there is also a different file created exactly the same way:

climatedataout.html

becomes

climatedataoutMYYYY.html

Subtitled "LOCAL CLIMATOLOGICAL DATA"

EG  http://www.inmanavenue.com/climatedataout.html

Also, WD puts out daily a monthly Average Extreme data file "dailyreport.htm":

http://www.inmanavenue.com/dailyreport.htm

and this too, becomes a monthly file but with a different styled filename:

http://www.inmanavenue.com/June2012.htm

there is yet a mixed span MTD/30daydata one with graphs as well:

http://www.inmanavenue.com/weekrep.htm

I spose that has confused you somewhat... LOL

I wished he would make that last one a monthly report as it has good graphs with it.

Graeme

NB  you can recreate most of these for a specific month in the past but it will probably have the current running month filename and will need the MYYYY insterted into the filename manually and then reloaded to the website to replace a bad data one or missing file.

Many thanks Toko. I followed that just fine.
As I said I spent a bit of time over weekend going through the WD forum.

So WD just auto renames. Thats what I could not find.

Again thank you :)

I'm back :)

Ok the renaming thing is not working.
All my friend has is this month. I got 'my friend' to check if this was turn ed on and my friend yes both were turned on:

WD
View
First one Averages/Extremes/Noaa Style Reports

Go to Tab Noaa Reports/Email Reports/Uploads/Print

On the right - 3rd one down -
On the right - 4th one down -
Upload Noaa Daily & Standard Report to my web page. ( something like that )
Please turn those 2 on if not on already.

I must be missing something. What else do I need to turn on or tick please in order to have
dailynoaareport22012.htm
dailynoaareport32012.htm
dailynoaareport42012.htm
etc

Thanks
Jenny

the renaming should occur as the file is uploaded to the web site
but I do know there has been some problems with this on some systems'
which I need to look into
(i.e better would be to create local date stamped file and upload that)
(you can manualy go back and create those data stamped files and upload, as Graeme says)

Selecting the correct year and month, then recreate, and it will generate the new file in the "webfiles" folder.  Find the latest file in there as the default current filename,

Go to [Control Panel] - [FTP Connections] - [Maunual uploads] and select that current file and enter in the new correct filename in the box for filename change, and FTP it.

Thank you Toko.
I presume that will manually create it.

However you said this was done automatically at the end of each month. It is not.
On the month changeover it just starts the new month all over again and does not rename and save the month before.
Hence other than what I have typed above there must be something else I need to do, but I am not sure what.
Anymore ideas please.

I will check out the Registry for WD settings and find them. Then you could check those Keys out. It maybe that those settings only get read on startup and they have been set and WD just needs to be restarted.  Sometimes they may need to be unset then set again to be operational and then Exit - Save & Exit ensures they are in the Registry.
