Weekend Forecast 19th May - 20th May 2012
« on: May 17, 2012, 08:51:00 PM »
What to expect this Weekend by Weather watch:
High pressure will build in from Oz as we go through the next several days.  That means we should see some much calmer weather than what we have seen this week.

It doesn’t mean it’s going to be dry the whole time though.

On Friday, there is a risk for showers at the top and bottom of the country.  Auckland could see some showers toward sunset and into the evening hours.  The deep south of the South Island could see some showers during the morning and afternoon.

Saturday is looking to be a pretty dry day.  Most of the country should be rain-free.

Sunday is not looking bad either.  However, a cold front is expected to move across the country and this could spark a few showers.  The best chance for that will be late in the day on Sunday then lasting into Sunday evening.  The areas running the highest risk for seeing showers are across the southern and western regions of the South Island and Taranaki, Wanganui and Waikato on the North Island.

On Monday, it’s back into the widespread dry weather.

Don’t look for any big warm-ups over the next 5 days.  That south-west flow will persist and keep things pretty autumn-like.  Which is only fair.  After all, winter is just 2 weeks away.
