Parts of Scotland witnessed distinctly wintry scenes on Tuesday - as the UK experiences a spell of unsettled weather.
Residents in the village of Oldmeldrum in Aberdeenshire endured rapidly changing weather conditions, with sunshine giving way to torrential rain and even snow.
Staff at local ice cream shop The Icer took to social media to express their bemusement, writing:
"Snow in June? That's a new one. Luckily, the shop is still warm, welcoming, and serving smiles whatever the weather."
Local coffee shop Coffee and Dreams also shared an image of the snow with the caption:
"9th June, not long till Christmas."
Localised flooding in the village saw the local secondary school, Meldrum Academy, evacuated as a precaution, with all pupils sent home early.
Aberdeenshire Council said that it is "continuing to assess" the extent of flood damage, and confirmed that the school will remain closed on Wednesday, with online learning being offered to pupils.
The inclement weather also sparked the closure of Oldmeldrum Golf Club, who posted: "Due to this afternoon's thunder and lightning and Hailstones the course and range are closed the rest of the day."
Meanwhile, the council said it has notified Scottish Water of an issue near Auchterellon School in Ellon. Signage has been put in place to help ensure the road can remain open and used safely.
Despite the flooding in and around Ellon and Oldmeldrum, no road closures are currently in place.
However, the council has urged motorists to take extra care, reduce speed and remain alert when driving through affected areas, as surface water is likely to remain on some roads for a time.
The UK is currently experiencing a spell of unsettled weather, with rain and showers expected to continue affecting most of the country through to Friday.
But weather conditions could take a sharp turn at the weekend, with temperatures likely to rise above the seasonal average, which is placed at around 21C for southern England.
Dan Stroud, meteorologist at the Met Office, said: "We're looking at temperatures climbing into the weekend, particularly on Saturday and Sunday, so feeling much warmer than recent days, with temperatures quite widely above average, especially across the south come Saturday, and even more so on Sunday."
Current indicators also suggest temperatures might hit the 30C barrier, and possibly break it, Mr Stroud added.
