Surprising to see that all the rest of NZ have been chickened out that the North Island City of Hastings topped today's maximum of 25.6C today in the early winter months beating the previous record of 25.4C set in June 1988. 25.6C recording in Hastings today is probably a new New Zealand high temperature record in June. Whakatu near Hastings recorded 25.3 which is the 2nd highest Winter temperature for the site. Can you look at all the NZ records where the New Zealand highest recorded temperature for June. In fact Hastings is hotter than Alice Springs in Australia where it reached 23.9C. Hastings nearby city of Napier recorded 22.9C just short of the top 5 warmest maximum for that city as Napier's highest June recorded temperature remains at 25.1C set on 10 June 2016. Other centres include Gisborne recording 22.4C and Invercargill was a coolest centre in NZ only reaching 9.4C
