Apr 2020 – Heavy wet snow is causing the trees to bend over the lines, says operations manager Petter Södergran on the Vaasa power grid.
During the night and morning, approximately 2700 customers were without electricity in the Vaasa region, most of which are holiday homes.
It is a little tricky with the ice situation and to reach when there is no road connection, says Södergran.
At best, we also clear away trees in different parts of the Vaasa power grid area, trees that are not currently causing disruption but which are seen as a risk.
It has also probably been snowing in the north of Herrfors, but not so much that it would have caused a break, says network manager Peter Nyman.

Sweden has recorded its biggest ever earthquake caused by mining in the Arctic.
The quake measured magnitude 4.1 and forced the Kiruna mine, which is more than 100 years old, to be closed until further notice.
It is not the most powerful earthquake in Sweden overall, with the record held by an earthquake in Sjöbo in southern Sweden that measured 4.3.
Thirteen workers were in the mine when the tremor struck just after 3am on Monday, but no one was injured and all workers were able to drive out, local media said. The mine was quickly evacuated and all work stopped.
The epicentre was 1.9 miles (3 km) from the town, which is located in northern Sweden inside the Arctic Circle.
Several people in Kiruna reported noticing a severe tremor.

Historic cold in Sweden

Coldest month of July in almost 60 years
According to weather institute Storm, and as reported by Swedish newspaper Expressen, these towns are on for their coldest July’s since 1962.
In Götaland and in large parts of Svealand, it has not been as cold in July in 16 years and in northern Sweden we have to go back to 2015 to find an equally cold month, writes Swedish Radio .

Thousands of households across northern Sweden and southern Finland were without power Wednesday after a heavy snowfall, and forecasters warned that particularly icy temperatures lay ahead for the Baltic Sea region.
In southwestern Finland, some 4,000 households were without power, according to Finnish broadcaster YLE, with authorities saying that number could rise. In Sweden, electricity provider Eon said some 3,000 homes were affected and added that power outages may go on longer than usual because it may be too risky to send out maintenance workers.
The Swedish weather service said the snowfall, which had affected the northern part of Sweden over the past 24 hours, was still taking place but was slowing down.
The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute reported snow depths of up to 60 centimeters (24 inches) in northern Sweden.
