Forecast in Brief for Tuesday the 12th June 2018

A deep low forecast to move over the North Island brings heavy rain and strong winds to many areas.

Northland to Waikato, also Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty and Taupo
Rain, with some heavy falls. Southerly winds, severe gale in places.

Waitomo to Kapiti, including Taumarunui and Taihape
Rain, with heavy falls possible during Tuesday from Taranaki northwards. Southeast winds, severe gale in places tomorrow.

Gisborne to Wairarapa, and Wellington
Periods of rain with heavy falls in the east. Southeast winds, possibly severe gale tomorrow.

Marlborough and Canterbury
Rain, becoming heavier Tuesday, especially in Marlborough.

Nelson and Buller to Fiordland
Cloudy. Patchy rain north of Greymouth Tuesday with strong southeast winds over Nelson.

Otago and Southland
Mainly fine at first. Becoming cloudy Tuesday, with patchy drizzle in North Otago and the Otago Peninsula.

Chatham Islands
Cloudy. A few showers developing Tuesday.
