Northland and Auckland
Occasional showers, some heavy from tomorrow afternoon with possible thunderstorms and hail.

Waikato to Kapiti, including the central high country
Mostly fine today. Showers tomorrow, some heavy with hail, and snow to 600 metres about the central high country.

Bay of Plenty, Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Scattered rain clearing today. Showers from tomorrow afternoon, some heavy with hail, and snow to 600 metres about Gisborne and Hawkes Bay.

Wellington and Wairarapa
Isolated showers today. Showers becoming widespread tomorrow, with hail and snow above 600 metres.

Nelson, Buller and Westland
Fine, apart a few showers tonight or early tomorrow.

Marlborough and Canterbury
Cold southerlies developing tonight with showers. Snow to 200 metres tomorrow, and possibly affecting Christchurch for a time.

Otago, Southland and Fiordland
Occasional rain or showers, with possible thunderstorms about the south coast today. Snow to 200 metres tonight and tomorrow morning.

Chatham Islands

A period of heavy rain and thunderstorms tonight, then showers tomorrow.
