Forecast in Brief for Monday the 28th May 2018

Northland to Waitomo, including Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty, Taupo and Taumarunui
Showers clearing overnight or in the morning, then mainly fine.

Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Showers becoming widespread overnight, some heavy with hail and snow above 700 metres. Southerly gales developing near the coast overnight.

Taranaki, Whanganui and Taihape
Showers, with snow lowering to 600 metres for a time early tomorrow.

Manawatu and Kapiti
Fine spells and a few showers.

Wellington, Wairarapa, coastal Marlborough and Canterbury
Showers, some heavy with hail and snow lowering to 500 metres overnight, then easing tomorrow afternoon. Southerly gales near the coast.

Inland Marlborough, Nelson, Buller, Westland and northern Fiordland
Fine.

Southern Fiordland, Otago and Southland
Showers, more frequent about Southland and Clutha, clearing tomorrow.

Chatham Islands
Showers, some heavy overnight.
