Forecast in Brief for Friday the 25th May 2018

Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and Wellington

Fine spells. A few heavy showers and thunderstorms, mainly about the ranges. Westerly gales easing overnight.

Wairarapa
Mainly fine, but occasional showers in the north, some heavy and possibly thundery. A few showers with southerlies spreading from the south tomorrow evening.

Remainder of the North Island
Scattered showers, some heavy and squally with hail and isolated thunderstorms.

Nelson, Buller, Westland
Heavy, squally showers with hail and isolated thunderstorms. Snow above 600 metres but heavy falls above 400 metres south of Haast, all clearing in the morning.

Marlborough and Canterbury
A few showers about the High Country with snow above 600 metres. Fine elsewhere today, however, showers spreading to the Canterbury Plains and coastal Marlborough tomorrow.

Otago, Southland and Fiordland
Showers about Fiordland and Southland coasts, some heavy with hail and possible thunderstorms, and snow above 500 metres. Mainly fine elsewhere, however, showers developing again tomorrow.

Chatham Islands
Periods of rain, possibly heavy and thundery.
