Title: Trouble with Lightbox
Post by: gabba on June 08, 2016, 08:08:34 PM
Extracted from Social Chat - top of thread missing:

Initial problem was: Sound issues when running lightbox app - delayed sound, or not at all.

ato2: Most unreliable on Windows 10, iffy on Win 8.1, and OK, sometimes on Win 7

ato2: IE 11 in all cases. Found if I downloaded the stand alone silverlight installer and instI got better luck, though still hit and miss

ato2: *and installed

ato2: Used a desktop and a laptop to test the combinations of OS and IE11

ato2: Always one has to click a pop up to allow mixed content. But sometimes the pop up is behind the window, other times in front....

ato2: Whereas netflix, just works!

ato2: Sorry, maybe I should make a new topic a

gabba: Umm. Unfortunately for me it just works, so I can't think what might cause those problems.

gabba: I have noticed it is a bit picky, spitting up odd error messages, or not loading the next item in a series. If I log out and log back in though it works again

gabba: Do you run the sound through the TV, or via an A/V unit?

gabba: I'm running Win10

ato2: Sound is through my TV and then through my stereo amp. But the sound issues are still the same even if I am just using the laptop or the desktop by itself

gabba: Hmmm. Bit difficult to tell. Sometimes my setup wont connect properly. Its to do with the link negotiated between the tv an the a/v unit. If its not hdcp compliant from source to tv, then that can impact the audio

gabba: trying different types of cables may work, but I haven't fully solved mine yet, and normally just reset everything to get it to work

gabba: You might be able to fix the sound delay issue on the stereo. There may be a feature that allows you to that

gabba: However, that all said if it works for Netflix then that kinda disproves the above ideas, so its a bit tricky to figure out whats going on

ato2: Yes it's a shame because all other playback things work- BBC/ITV players/ TVNZ/ You Tube etc

iomkiwi: @at02 - what sort of TV? Samsung have a global problem with J series TV's with sound sync

ato2: Panasonic. I have no trouble with anything else except lightbox.

GrantK: @ato2: I had no end of trouble streaming video from my Win 10 PC to my Panasonic Plasma.  Sometimes it wouldn't detect the TV as being present unless I pulled the cable in and out.  It seemed to get more and more unreliable as time went on and I also noticed the sound delay problem you've mentioned.  Frame rate was also quite erratic making for jerky video.  So I bought a Roku4 media streaming box and all the problems went away.
