After 2 days of solid rain the Wairoa River is well over her banks. As always this is largely due to the water and debris pouring down from the catchment area.
All rural roads are closed as attached.
Gisborne also has many rural roads closed including SH2 with flooding at Te Karaka.

The clean-up will begin in Gisborne today as the district council continues to assess the damage caused by yesterday's floods.
Low lying homes and basements by the Waipaoa River have been flooded and residents from Te Karaka had to be evacuated overnight.
Some roads including State Highway 2 north of the city and the Gladstone Bridge have been re-opened, while others remain closed.
