Northland
Showers in the north and west, clearing this afternoon.
Auckland to Waitomo, including Coromandel, Bay of Plenty, Taupo and Taumarunui
Fine, with morning frosts.
Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Heavy showers with hail, snow to 200 metres affecting many inland roads.Isolated thunderstorms till early morning. Showers easing by evening and snow level lifting to 700 metres.
Taranaki and Taihape to Wellington, also Wairarapa
Showers with snow to 300 metres overnight. Showers retreats to Wairarapa and Wellington coasts in the evening, and clears elsewhere.
Coastal Marlborough and Canterbury
Showers, with snow to 400 metres overnight, becomes confined to the Kaikoura Coast and Banks Peninsula this morning and clears later.
Inland Marlborough, Nelson, Buller, Westland and Fiordland
Fine, with morning frosts.
Southland and Otago
A few light showers about Southland coast, clearing this morning. Fine elsewhere with morning frosts.
Chatham Islands
Occasional showers.
