Northland and Auckland
Fine spells and a few showers.
Waikato to Horowhenua, also Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and the central high country
Fine at first with frosts in sheltered places, then cloud increasing and scattered showers developing.
Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa, also Kapiti, Wellington, Marlborough and Nelson
Mainly fine with morning frosts. Scattered showers developing in Marlborough, Wellington and Wairarapa tonight.
Buller, Westland and Fiordland
Rain spreading north this morning followed by showers, clearing tonight.
Canterbury and Otago
Fine at first, with severe frosts inland. Showers developing in Otago this afternoon, and Canterbury in the evening.
Southland
A few showers this morning, becoming widespread and heavier for a time in the afternoon with hail.
