Title: Forecast in Brief for Sunday 21st June 2015

A frontal system moves away from the North Island this morning leaving a light southwest flow across the country. A cold front over the southern oceans is racing northwards and brings bitterly cold southerlies and snow to low levels as it moves up the South Island today and the North Island tomorrow.

Northland to Waikato
Fine spells and isolated showers.

Waitomo to Wellington and the central high country
Showers becoming isolated this morning and fine spells developing. Showers increasing this evening with snow lowering to 400 metres in the south overnight.

Gisborne to Wairarapa, including Bay of Plenty
Occasional rain, but some heavy falls about the ranges, clearing this morning.

Nelson and Marlborough
Mainly fine. Showers with snow to 400 metres developing in southern Marlborough tonight.

Buller and Westland
Showers spread from the south, possibly thundery this morning. Snow lowering to 500 metres tonight.

Canterbury
Fine at first, but showers with hail developing this evening with snow lowering to near sea level tonight.

Fiordland, Southland and Otago
Snow lowering to sea level tonight.
