Anyone prepared to give advice on double glazing? We are seriously looking at doing our new house. Will be retrofitting into wooden frames, full units. Any thoughts around the options eg argon gas and different types of glass?

Sorry about the late reply...we have double glazing with argon gas in the windows in the living area as they are too big to curtain. It has worked well so far but we wonder how long before the gas leaks out. No one could really give us an answer on this.
Definitely love the double glazing - the house is so warm and we have a lot of large windows in most rooms.

The gas leaks? I thought they were sealed units.
Did you have aluminium or wooden frames
Thanks for the reply

We don't know if the gas does or doesn't leak. We couldn't find any info to say either way. We just thought it was worth the small cost per pane to use it given the extra insulation it provides. Our windows are aluminum.

I faced the same problem when getting a house lot made up as aluminium inserts(the existing frames and wood are like new).
Tried to get a definite answer re gas leaking and went for single glazing. Main issue here is wind, rather than cold cold overnight temperatures, so was very pleased to have no more draughts.
