Northland to Taranaki, Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and Central High Country
Frequent showers, some squally and thundery.
Gisborne to Wairarapa
Rain clearing early morning, then mainly fine apart from a few showers about the ranges and late showers for southern Wairarapa.
Wanganui to Wellington
Showers, frequent from afternoon with some heavy and possibly thundery falls north of Kapiti.
Nelson and Marlborough excluding Kaikoura Coast
Frequent showers, some heavy and possibly thundery, clearing by evening.
Kaikoura Coast and North Canterbury
Scattered rain clearing this morning, but developing again this evening.
Remainder of Canterbury, Otago and Southland
Drizzle turning to rain this morning with some heavy falls. Snow lowering to 400 metres in Otago and Southland tonight.
Buller and Westland
Showers, clearing this morning.
Fiordland
Cloudy periods.
