Northland, Auckland and Coromandel Peninsula
Rain easing to showers around midday. Possible heavy falls and thunderstorms.
Waikato to Taranaki, also Bay of Plenty and Central High Country and Gisborne
Rain, with heavy falls and thunderstorms spreading eastwards this morning, then easing later.
Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa
Scattered rain.
Wanganui to Wellington
Thick high cloud, with rain at times.
Buller to Fiordland, also Nelson and Northern Marlborough
Rain at times, more persistent in Nelson and northern Marlborough, with heavy falls and possible thunderstorms, but clearing south of the glaciers this afternoon.
Rest of Marlborough to Southland
High cloud, with a period of scattered rain this morning. However, becoming cloudy Banks Peninsula southwards later and patchy drizzle developing along the coast.
