Northland to Waitomo and Taumarunui, also Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty and Taupo
Rain, some heavy, with possible thunderstorms from Waitomo to Auckland, easing to a few light showers in the west by dawn. However, rain returning to Northland by evening.
Gisborne, Hawkes Bay
Mainly fine, but patchy rain before dawn.
Wairarapa
Mainly fine, but morning showers near the coast, some possibly heavy.
Taranaki to Wellington, also Taihape, Nelson and inland Marlborough
The odd shower before dawn, then fine.
The Kaikoura Coast and Canterbury
Showers before dawn, some heavy with thunderstorms and hail, then fine.
Otago, Southland, Fiordland
Showers with hail, retreating to the south coast before dawn, and becoming fine inland.
Buller, Westland
Scattered showers, clearing for a time this morning.
