We would like to setup a webcam for Pukehou Weather (my sister's station).
Currently looking at buying a Microsoft Lifecam HD3000 for the job. Would this be a suitable cam and software for the station?
Thanks

Can anyone give some advise as to software John can use to capture his cam image and upload to his server please.
Freeware preferably.
Thanks

Sorry I can't comment on the LifeCam HD3000 as I am presently using the Logitech 9000 and that works ok with Yawcam Yawcam - Yet Another Webcam Software (http://www.yawcam.com/)
I have a new camera as well, Hikvision IP, that I will also be putting up when the snow is off of the roof but haven't figured out yet where to start and what software to use with it. A long thread here http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=23310.0
Enjoy,
Paul

I also found this software that may work with the cam you have. There is a free version.
Trial and error I suppose.

The one Paul has posted above I know is used by many so defoinitely worth looking into.
Cheers.

I've had good success with the hd7000 but I doubt it is still available now. I think there are several webcam threads on the forum so if you haven't already, try a search and see what comes up.
With webcams my experience is there a sweet spot between price and quality, so don't go for the cheapest

I use a free camera program called iSpy for two of my internet cameras. It tends to be a bit picky on the make of camera, but works well for me and it is truly free, not just a trial.
