Northern and western areas from Northland to Kapiti, including Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and the central high country
Showers gradually becoming confined to Auckland and Northland.
Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa
Mainly fine, but a period of showers this morning, and a few showers lingering in Wairarapa. Severe westerly gales in exposed places easing this morning.
Wellington
A period of showers and strong southerlies early morning, then clearing but showers returning tonight.
Marlborough and Nelson
Showers clearing early morning.
Buller and Westland
Becoming fine early morning.
Canterbury
Showers, some heavy with hail, clearing this morning. However, showers lingering about Banks Peninsula with strong cold southwesterlies.
Otago, Southland and Fiordland
Showers, some heavy with hail and snow to 500 metres, easing this morning and snow lifting.
Chatham Islands
Showers, some heavy and possibly thundery this evening.
