Northland, Auckland and Waikato
Mainly fine.
From Waitomo and Taumarunui to Wellington, also Taupo, Taihape and Wairarapa
Fine with areas of morning cloud, cloud increasing in the evening.
Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty
Fine apart from patchy morning drizzle.
Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Morning cloud and isolated light showers then fine.
Nelson and Marlborough
Mainly fine with high cloud.
Buller, Westland and Fiordland
Drizzle in Fiordland spreading elsewhere this morning, then turning to rain with heavy falls in Fiordland in the afternoon, and Westland in the evening.
Canterbury, Otago and Southland
Fine with high cloud, with scattered rain in Otago and Southland from afternoon.
Chatham Islands
Occasional rain clearing this morning.
