All the North Island except Gisborne to Wairarapa and Wellington
Cloudy periods and scattered showers spreading north, reaching Northland late afternoon.
Gisborne to Wairarapa, and Wellington
Fine at first. Isolated showers about Mahia Peninsula and Gisborne this afternoon, and cloud increasing towards evening in Wellington and Wairarapa with a few showers spreading north.
Nelson, Marlborough and Canterbury
Fine at first. Scattered showers developing this afternoon in Canterbury and about the Kaikoura coast.
Buller and Westland
Showers, some heavy, easing south of Hokitika this morning.
Fiordland, Southland and Otago
Showers, some heavy with hail, mainly in the south. Snow lowering to 400 metres this evening.
Chatham Islands
Fine spells and occasional showers.
