Northland, Auckland and Coromandel
A few showers, clearing this morning.
The remainder of the North Island
Scattered showers, some heavy, easing before dawn and becoming confined to western areas from Waitomo to Kapiti by afternoon.
Nelson and Marlborough
Fine, apart from areas of morning cloud.
Canterbury
A few showers, clearing before dawn and becoming mainly fine. A few more showers this afternoon.
Buller and Westland
Occasional showers north of Hokitika, some heavy, becoming widespread this morning. Hail possible in Westland this evening.
Fiordland, Southland and Otago
Showers about Fiordland and coastal Southland spreading elsewhere this morning, some heavy with hail, and possible thunderstorms in the south. Snow lowering to 500 metres this evening but becoming fine about North and Central Otago.
Chatham Islands
Cloudy periods, with a few showers.
