Waikato to Manawatu, including the central high country and Bay of Plenty
Showers, some heavy with hail, and few thunderstorms possible from afternoon.
Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Fine spells and a few showers, frequent and possibly heavy from afternoon.
Kapiti, Wellington, Wairarapa also Nelson and Marlborough
Fine, apart from drizzle about the Tararua Range. Scattered showers developing this afternoon, some heavy with hail and thunderstorms in Marlborough.
Canterbury
Showers developing this morning, some heavy with hail.
Buller and Westland
Showers, some heavy with hail and thunderstorms, clearing in Westland this afternoon.
Fiordland, Southland and Otago
Showers, with snow to 600 metres this morning then clearing inland during the afternoon.
Chatham Islands
Fine, a few showers developing this morning clearing in the afternoon.
