Waikato to Manawatu, including the central high country
Showers developing this morning, some heavy this afternoon.
Gisborne to Wairarapa, also Kapiti, Wellington, Marlborough and Nelson
Fine, apart from brief showers this morning or afternoon. Northwest gales, severe in Wairarapa.
Buller, Westland and Fiordland
Periods of rain, heavy at times with squally thunderstorms, clearing in Westland this evening. Snow lowering to 600 metres in Fiordland later.
Canterbury
Showers, some heavy and thundery with hail about the coast this afternoon. Northwest gales, severe in the north.
Southland and Otago
Scattered showers, some heavy and thundery with hail about the coast.
Chatham Islands
Rain developing this evening.
