Northland to Waikato, also Coromandel Peninsula and Bay of Plenty
Occasional rain north of Kaitaia, spreading south this morning, with heavy falls and thunderstorms possible. Rain easing to a few showers this afternoon.
Waitomo to Wellington, also the central high country and Nelson
Fine at first. Rain spreading south this morning, easing to showers this afternoon.
Gisborne to Wairarapa, also Marlborough
Fine at first, then scattered rain developing this afternoon.
Buller and Westland
Fine at first. Scattered rain developing north of Hokitika late morning.
Fiordland
Cloudy periods, with a few showers turning to rain this evening with possible thunderstorms.
Canterbury to Southland
Mainly fine. Scattered rain developing in Southland tonight.
Chatham Islands
A few showers clearing this morning, then fine.
