Northland, Auckland, Coromandel, Waikato and Bay of Plenty
A few showers turning to rain this morning or afternoon, possibly heavy.
Waitomo, Taranaki, Taumarunui, Taupo and Taihape
Occasional rain, possibly heavy, easing in Taranaki this morning.
Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Mainly fine with high cloud, but scattered rain about Hawkes Bay.
Wanganui to Wellington, also Wairarapa
Fine spells and isolated showers. Cloud and patchy drizzle developing about Wellington and Wairarapa late evening.
Marlborough and Nelson
Fine at first but a few showers from afternoon, some possibly heavy with thunderstorms about the ranges.
Buller to Fiordland
Showers, some heavy about the ranges this afternoon.
Canterbury and Otago
A few showers, some heavy and possibly thundery inland this afternoon.
Southland
Cloudy with a few showers at first, but fine spells increasing this afternoon.
Chatham Islands
Cloudy periods, evening drizzle.
