Northland to Waikato, including Coromandel and Bay of Plenty
Rain spreading north before dawn, then becoming confined to Northland this afternoon.
Waitomo and Taupo to Manawatu
Rain clearing from the south before dawn, then mainly fine.
Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Scattered rain, becoming confined to northern Gisborne this afternoon.
Kapiti, Wellington and Wairarapa
Fine, apart from areas of cloud this evening.
Marlborough and Nelson
Mostly fine. However, isolated showers this afternoon, mainly about the ranges.
Buller, Westland and Fiordland
Patchy rain, heavier and more persistent in Fiordland before dawn with possible thunderstorms. Becoming fine in Fiordland this morning and gradually clearing elsewhere.
Canterbury and North Otago
Isolated showers, cloud increasing this afternoon.
Remainder of Otago and Southland
Showers spreading north early this morning, then becoming fine early this afternoon.
Chatham Islands
Mainly fine, brief showers this evening.
