Title: Forecast in Brief for Monday 6th October 2014

Northland to Manawatu, including Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and the Central High Country
Isolated showers, but a brief period of rain today. Westerly gales.

Gisborne and northern Hawkes Bay
Mainly fine, but brief rain about the western ranges. Northwest gales in exposed places.

Remainder of Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa, Kapiti, Wellington, Marlborough and Canterbury
Rain with severe northwest gales, turning to strong cold southerly with showers some heavy and possibly thundery with hail over South Island this morning and elsewhere later.

Nelson
A few showers, mainly about the ranges. Westerly gales.

Buller to Fiordland, also Otago and Southland
Showers, some heavy and thundery falls with hail. Snow to 500 metres in Fiordland, Otago and Southland. Southwest gales in exposed places.

Chatham Islands
Showers, some heavy.
