Title: Forecast in Brief for Saturday 4th October 2014

Northland to Manawatu, including Bay of Plenty and the central high country
Showers, some heavy with hail, becoming isolated tonight. Thunderstorms possible from Waitomo southwards with snow to 600 metres. Westerly gales in exposed places.

Gisborne to Wairarapa
Fine spells and a few showers, possibly thundery south of Gisborne this afternoon. Northwesterlies, severe gale in exposed places south of Napier easing this morning.

Wellington, Kapiti, Canterbury and Marlborough
Fine, apart from isolated showers.

Nelson
A few showers, clearing this afternoon.

Buller and Westland
Showers north of Hokitika, some thundery until afternoon, with snow to 500 metres. Fine elsewhere.

Otago, Southland and Fiordland
Squally showers, possibly thundery, clearing from Otago and inland Southland this afternoon. Cold southwesterlies, gale about the coast. Snow to 200 metres until afternoon.

Chatham Islands
Showers, with hail and possible thunderstorms.
