Northland to Taranaki, Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty, Taupo, Taumarunui
Showers, some heavy especially from afternoon.
Gisborne, Hawkes Bay
Scattered rain, becoming widespread in the afternoon with heavy falls possible.
Wanganui and Taihape to Wellington, also Wairarapa
Rain, possibly heavy, easing to showers in Wellington and Wairarapa in the afternoon and clearing elsewhere. Snow for the Desert Road from evening. Southeasterlies, gale in exposed places for a time.
Buller, Nelson, Marlborough, Canterbury
Rain, with heavy falls for Marlborough and Nelson. Snow to 600 metres in Marlborough. Rain clearing in the morning, but a few showers linger about the Kaikoura Coast.
Westland
Fine, high cloud.
Otago, Southland, Fiordland
Showers in Southland and coastal South Otago with snow to 600 metres, clearing in the morning. Fine elsewhere.
Chatham Islands
A few showers, clearing in the afternoon.
