Post by: JennyLeez on June 12, 2014, 12:17:05 PM
The highest recorded rainfall was in the Gisborne ranges, where some areas topped 200mm.

"We were expecting a further 100-200mm accumulating in the Gisborne ranges, and in the last 24 hours some parts of the ranges have recorded well in excess of 200mm -- 264mm being the top one," MetService forecaster Liz Walsh said.

Arowahne in the Gisborne Ranges claimed that top reading, at one point receiving 18mm of rain per hour.

About 10 stations in the Gisborne Ranges recorded between 100-200mm in 24 hours, she said.

Gisborne city itself recorded 52mm, while Napier saw 23.4mm and Hastings 37.4mm in 24 hours.

Top rainfall readings in the Hawke's Bay were also in the ranges, where Ngahere saw 148mm of rain.
