This also is magnified to an extreme. Meaning it is an extreme close up :)

I'll go with a garden aphid or carpet mite (on the basis it lived in purple carpet)

Clue: it flies.

Ok so far you have it is an insect. It flies.

The photo is the head of the insect - obvious.

Next clue: More commonly seen in the summer months.

Now you should be able to narrow your guesses down.
