Norfolk Island - Exciting sound this morning on the roof - we have rain, it has been so dry, the last heavy rain was 5 Feb with 116mm in a day. the year so far 228mm. this is the first rain this month :)
January 45mm, February 157mm March 24mm and April so far none
hope it stays steady all day - it will settle the dust, fill the water tanks and water the gardens and help the veges grow for the Island, there is a shortage of potatoes - carrots etc

Very sodden on the east coast now.
Most of the rain has fallen in the upper catchment which is now flowing down the Wairoa River which is now extremely dirt and swollen. The river mouth is open at present so lets hope it stays that way.

New Plymouth: Sunny, some cloud, 18 degrees, near calm.
We got around 30mm past two days so things are growing again.

The sun shines for a change after 7 days rain.
Looking at the long lawns and mud one would think it was the middle of winter not early April.
My forecast tells me the rain is back tonight and tomorrow so not a lot of drying out will be done alas.
But I would rather have this than the drought up north is having :(
