This is an older model of what it is :)
-
A volt meter of some kind
A very old radio
-
It's it a communication cable selector?
-
Tricky as to how to answer you Intrepid.
Be more specific please :)
-
its an undersea comms cable selector?
I think the N E S W N are the directions that the cables go from the point of origin and the little switch underneath selects which cable you want to use.
As a guess....
-
I know what it is as my Father in law has one!!!
-
A wind directional finder
A wind measuring device
Something to do with barometric pressure
A magnetic pole finder
-
No to all the above.
Go down a different path Intrepid. Forget any cables.
Remember it is old, like old old...lol
Shhhh Phil :)
-
Something to do with telephones
A milking machine
Wonder if I can bribe Phil lol
Is it electrical?
-
The Enigma machine
Christopher Columbus's compass
Could we please have a teeny weeny clue?
-
Ok the N S E and W tell you it is something to set direction.
Go back to in time. Say the 1970s.
What was around and what was not around.
What would need to be set to N S E and W back then.
-
remote control
-
But to what and to do what?
-
TV aerial
CB radio
Ham radio ( that's intrepids input)
-
This dose not have up,down,left,right.
But also must not be radio remote as it has a wire coming out of it.
A pointer of some kind..
-
and what does ( did) it do.
A pointer of some kind..
Pointing where, why :)
-
traffic flow
-
A compass device connected to an antenna the radio inspectors used to find folks with radios in their homes using the modulated signal of the IF superhet stages in old radios.
-
radio direction finder - to find signals going into houses and make sure that house had paid it's licensing fees?
-
Babs is on the right track with this guess.
iomkiwi is sorta on the right track.
Nearly there. Read both these guesses and try again.
-
Now who would do that. Really!! Toko...lol
-
An antenna rotater
-
Or a TV aerial rotator
-
Yes correct Babs it used to allow you to rotate your TV antenna, bringing in digital and HDTV programming from all directions without having to get on the roof.
-
I got some help from the resident genius who lives here!
I had better stop doing these and let someone else have a go at getting the correct answer
