Erosion supports - use on the beach and they could fill with sand and help support the sand sandunes or stop banks

None of those guesses are anywhere close.
This is a harder one and somewhat funny.
These are not used in New Zealand to my knowledge.
Think more Asia way.
Is sorta weather related.

The tall one is for measuring wind speed for adults and the small ones are coats for thin dogs that go out in the wind

They come in different sizes but all used for the same thing.
They are made from bamboo.

-
no :)
-
Arm guards -- costums - ornamental arms
-
Initially these were designed as a substitute for 'something' used by the male species.
They now also have another use and this use is weather related.
Ladies, please keep your guess seemly...lol

Is it a bamboo pillow that is used at night to keep you cool?
-
Well done Phil, I really thought the others would 'give in' on this one.
Originally, in Indonesia the man used them as replacements for their wives, because you can easily wrap your arms and legs around the bamboo structure.

However, nowadays it is used for cooling purposes in humid areas of the world.
The holes allow air to flow through and the bamboo is cooler than sheets.
