Looks like a wood plane, for planing an angle onto a piece of timber (window frames, scotias etc)

Ok some clues.

This is old. Very old :)

Used in the Publishing Business.
Used in offices.
Large offices like warehouse sorta :)

Folder - yes it could be too!  I can't see any counting number wheels but wondered if it counted sheets of paper?  There seems to be an offset on the brass drum/shaft, as if it may move something once every rev or movement.  A good puzzle - thanks for the hints!

It is a mailing machine for putting addresses on newspapers and magazines.

Oooooer I got it right, I wasn't even going to attempt to work this one out cos it looked and sounded so mechanical. Soooo guys you got beaten by a chick again cos we look at things differently........yay, in her mind, Babs does cartwheels all around the lounge just missing the cat and scaring intrepid!
