HAPPY NEW YEAR to all Forum Members!!!!  :) :)

OK.........
Just recovered from a terrible 'Deep-Freeze' around New Year's, and the next one is on its way.......
The worst Ice-Storm in 14 years hit Ontario/Toronto a few days before Christmas (many people without power throughout Christmas  >:( ) which was a clear realization that we live in Canada!!!!!
On top of that, Extreme Cold Artic Air hammered the region around New Year, however followed by a "warm-up" to - 2 C.
That didn't last for long, or we now see another front of very, very, very, very Cold air coming from the Arctic North, so maybe I can add my weather stations record (low) on the Forum by tomorrow...  :)
While you are enjoying the same temperatures in New Zealand, the difference is we have a MINUS in front of those figures.......
The cold temperatures are even made worse with a blistering wind of up to 70 km/h, so the Wind Chill factors are indeed DANGEROUS...!!!

Tonight the temp drop to - 25 C, and with the current strong winds it feels like -35 to - 40 C.....
Warnings from Environment Canada are all over the place, since unprotected skin can easily freeze in less than 10 mins........
So if you want to see real Zombies on the street, come over to Toronto....  8)
Some relatives from Holland asked me WHY people live in such a climate, but........it's Canada, and in 4 month from now we all enjoy our patios again  :)  8)  ???
However, for now: Send me some warmth....  :)

Current Conditions:
Temp: - 11.5 C
Apparent Temp: - 15 C (Dropping Rapidly @ 1.5 C / hr)
Winds: WSW 22.5 km/h with Gusts up to 55 km /h
Humidity: 48 %
Baro: 1007 mb
Precipitation: Afternoon Snow Flurries
Sky: Partly Cloudy

Keep an eye on our early morning temps, it could be a record LOW...
(BTW: Don't want to hear about your record highs...  :)  :)
By the end of the week we might see a REAL warm-up to - 4 C, which the weather forecaster on the News tonight called: "Tropical"...  :)

Cheers from the real Deep Freeze,

Arthur

Well, we 'survived' one day of EXTREME Cold......
One more to go, before it will 'warm-up'
