Have just signed up with Telecom to get VDSL2 broadband at the shop (at this stage we cannot get Ultra high speed).
With the exisiting connection we have we often get time out problems where it just stops or worse freezes.
I have been told by Telecom that this will not be an issue with VDSL2.
So I pay $199-00 for installation and an extra $20-00 per month and I get 30gb (at present I get 20gb) and will be able to watch sport with out any problems.
Installation takes place next Monday (21st October), the modem has arrived and is a shiny Black sleek looking piece of equipment with many different coloured cables .
Having been with Telecom in prevoius employment and knowing all about this stuff I am still not allowed to install it!.
Will let you know on how it goes.

Yeah - keep us updated Phil! ;)

does this work with any exchange that currently has standard ADSL Broadband?

Brian, you have to be very close to a cabinet to get good speed.
"VDSL2 deteriorates quickly from a theoretical maximum of 250 Mbit/s at source to 100 Mbit/s at 0.5 km (1,600 ft) and 50 Mbit/s at 1 km (3,300 ft), but degrades at a much slower rate from there."

We are only about 300 metres from the cabinet, so should be interesting to see how it performs, will do a speed test prior to the installation and one after
-
we are not very far from a road side cabinet...300m or so...

Okay so we have VDSL2 connected and below are the following readings
Latency was 25ms now 31ms
Download was 16.24 mbps now 33.88 mbps
Upload was 0.78 mbps now 8.29 mbps
so as you can see it has changed alot!

Thats a better speed Phil. :-)

That seems to be the standard Telecom ADSL upload speed. I use Telecom ADSL in Christchurch and a small wireless provider here in the country. The wireless upload speed is 4.23mbps and 5.34mbps download which is close to the ADSL download speed in the city.
