Just for something different this morning we were presented with some quite heavy and black clouds especially in what we colloquially call "up the back", which means upper Ohauiti towards Mt Misery the highest peak in the Papamoa Hills. It all moved off or burnt off pretty quickly and from about 9:00am we were back to another almost cloudless day, max Temperature 19.0c at 10:45 after another night above 8.0c. Peak wind gust today was 24 km/hr at 13:11 and the dominant wind direction was NW but did not get there until 9:00am by which time it had like yesterday done a couple of laps around the dial, moved around between South and North West until 13:30, then spent a few hours swinging between North and East where it has remained for the rest of the day. Wind speed was well under 5 km/hr until around 9:00am before heading upwards towards the days maximum but was back down to around 5 km/hr before 18:00 this evening. The barometer looked a bit like a stock market trading graph today, pretty stable at around 1021 hPa until about midday but then suffered a drop this afternoon to 1019 hPa but staged a late recovery to 1020.3 hPa. Promised rain for Friday and Saturday, maybe 4th time lucky or will it just pass us by and just deliver wind and cloud like the last 3 that passed us by.
