Port Robinson, North Canterbury 8.45am
Was sunny, but a big black thunder cloud has rolled in. Temperature 13.6° (was 15° at 3am).
Wind is mainly from the SW, but tending to swing to all directions at times and mainly light with the odd gust about 19kmh. I guess you'd call it changeable! No rain so far over the last 24hrs.

Not quite a blue dome sky start to the day today but still very warm and largely sunny all day, no jumper required in the office today after about 10:30am and was able to keep the Office door open until after 5pm. Max temperature reached 19.2c at 15:12 after another warmish night, the current temperature at 8.7c is almost 3 degrees cooler. between midnight and 7am the wind was pretty fickle and seems to have spun round the dial more than 2 complete rotations but then settled into a reasonably steady but definitely not cold WSW tending more westerly as the day progressed, max gust today was 38 km/hr at 14:32 but was no more than 5 km/hr with a couple of short bursts to 16 km/hr until late morning and retreated back there again after 18:00 this evening. currently <3 km/hr from the west or thereabouts. Barometer stayed in the 1016.9 to 1021.2 hPa range all day but despite some minor ups and downs the general trend was still upwards. Outside Humidity got down to 51% today so back to a more spring/summer range today. All the signs are that we are going to have a really early Spring here in the Western Bay of Plenty, lets just hope that we do not have any late Polar Blasts to upset the proverbial apple cart. Our Avocado pest monitoring scouts are reporting that some orchards are about to see bud burst and flowering not usually seen until late September and Spring type bugs are already increasing significantly.
