A large low northeast of the North Island should move slowly away during today (Sunday). A moist easterly flow covers the North Island. Steady rain in Hawkes Bay is likely to continue through Sunday before clearing Monday morning.
This watch is for the possibility that rainfall totals over this period may approach warning thresholds. The heaviest rain is expected to be in the ranges.
A front should move onto the South Island on Monday, then cross the North Island on Tuesday. This front is followed by a brief ridge of high pressure. A more active front should move onto southern South Island areas on Wednesday, then cross the rest of the South Island on Thursday.
