Could one of the WD users please tell me what this is.
Thanks
$currentwdet
-
$currentwdet = 0.016. The current evapotranspiration rate calculated by WD every minute
-
ahh so the same as this then?
$yesterdaydaviset
-
I'm stuck.
Yesterdays high gust is:
$maxgustyest
Why would WD be processing this incorrectly.
It should be processed as 40 instead we have 1.6
This is happening repeatedly with this testtag.
Any ideas please.
-
Prob best asked in the WD forums as many experts their to help you.
-
Yes thinking that also cept its just a crazy error.
Some days its fine and some days WD throws random digits in testtags but only seems to be for that tag. I have been ignoring it hoping it would go away...lol
-
make sure WD is running at the daily reset time, for that custom tag to work correctly
-
Weather Display is running 24/7
Thank you for answering, appreciated :)
-
that tag gets its value from
view, daily hi/low readings, yesterday daily hi gust
what shows there?
-
Toko can you do me a favour and put a screen shot of this here so I may know what that should look like.
Also will help others having this a same problem.
Thanks Toko and thanks Weather Display :)
-
That is the formal "dailyhighlowbaroetc.gif"
And is found exactly as Weather Display said:
Main Screen:
[View] - [Daily high low readings] - image as in the below image.
Yesterday Column and Daily High gust line showing the value the tag is supposed to reflect.
If it does not, then there may be an issue somewhere.
ie:
How powerful/modern is the PC? Ram? cpu type & speed
What else is running on the PC - eg webcam? wxsim? What AV?
What version and Build of Weather-Display?
Is it used for internet browsing, video viewing etc...
Hopefully we can move forward on this one with some more details :)
-
Thanks Toko, this will be a good screenshot also to keep for anyone starting out out on Highs and Lows for the day.
Ok so thats what weather display means.
I will monitor gif against yesterday page.
Naturally when I dont want it to be right it is today.
Thanks you 2 :)

Yesterdays data 26th march.
WD
The attached is showing high gust 4.8
Daily high average speed 11.4
PWS data which appears more correct
gust 16.1 Gust average 4.8 High wind 8.5
WU
High Gust 25.9 Wind Speed Average 5.5
The High Gust appears to be reporting the average.
Now this does not happen every day. It is random.
Some days it is correct and all three avenues for data collection are much the same.
Any ideas please and thanks.

what weather station type?
with such a late time stamp on the gust value, it looks like the max gust was reset at some stage
it looks also like you are not using the NZ standard of 9am reset time
-
Can you share the 48hourgraph.gif as well so we can see when the time should be for yesterday and today's max winds.
It looks like an 00:00 end of day, but that the current day did not register a change after midnight - it still had a yesterday high which may have been an error in itself - ie a low value, not the max gust for the day as should have been reported from another time.
The time of viewing was 1:00am in the morning of the new day.
I repeat my question - is this a dedicated weather PC or is it used as an internet PC or other as well?
And what speed is the cpu etc.
-
Good morning.
It is a Davis Pro 6162.
Change over time is midnight.
As at 8.30am the gif looks the same.
Most if the day this PC is not used.
Used for short time at at night for other uses. One would not expect this to have any affect.
PC relatively new. Specs definitely adequate. Running Win7.
The Daily summary page for month ( wzhistory ) also incorrect.
However the Trends Summary ( wxtrend ) is correct and is 2 days behind.
48hr below.
Thanks

try keeping an eye on the values under view, daily hi/low
during the day, and especialy closer to the reset time, if you can
to see if you can find some pattern
-
Don't know if this is same problem or not - but if you look at our new map (current conditions in menu up top) you will often see that the windspeed value is higher than the gust value from the WD stations
-
thats fine
because the windspeed is the average speed and the gust speed is the current speed
(ie when the current speed is lower than the average speed there is a lull in the wind)
-
OK I just thought the gust speed was the highest gust for the last x minutes.
( I must stop assuming things :) )
-
and today it is correct :)
-
and todays for yesterday. The high gust should be 13.00
(http://nzpws.net/nzwn/wd/dailyhighlowbaroetc3.gif)
-
You mean 33.8km/hr at 00:16; as recorded in the previous image for the then current day max? Somehow it loses the yesterday value as it goes past midnight into the new day - ie not transferred across. It is possibly picking up the max gust in last 10mins or something... just prior to midnight.
-
It almost appears to record the 10 minute average.
The frustrating part about this is, it is not every day. Most days it is spot on. Then for some reason it throws what appears to be the 10 minute average. See my last two days posted above. 27th is fine. 28th is not.
This has being going on for around 4 months now.
-
does anyone else have this problem?
I have been checking here and I do not
and I do not have any other reports of this particular problem
you say WD is running all the time?
i.e its not restarting at some stage?
are you able to keep an eye on this value from time to time during the day prior to midnight to see if there is a pattern, i.e to see if its being reset at some stage , or similar?
also check what you have set as the hour to reset the windspeed in the units setup?
-
JL, under 'Control Panel,Units & Settings. Go into Windspeed/Dir. Do you have "use 10min average for Windspeed Average" ticked by chance?
-
Yes.
Has been unticked.
How would that affect the gust value though.
Thanks Deano :)
-
Ok unticking that has given me this on change over at midnight :(
Maximum Wind Gust 0.0 SE km/h 12:01
Highest Average Speed 7.3 NW km/h 12:02
Wind Run 13.41 km
Will check what WD has written above next.
-
it looks like its doing the daily reset 2x
do you have some time changing software changing the windows time around midnight or similar?
-
Ok (touches wood ) the last 5 days have been correct :)
The last instructions I sent to member was:
JL, under 'Control Panel,Units & Settings. Go into Windspeed/Dir. Do you have "use 10min average for Windspeed Average" ticked by chance?
But that return a nil value so I had that reversed - sorry Deano.
I then sent from weather Display:
also check what you have set as the hour to reset the windspeed in the units setup?
I received back "Done"
Cept I am not sure what was done but so far it appears to have fixed it :)
Many thanks you guys for your help. Lets hope after 3 months I can put this one to the side :)
