Friday
Metservice advise:
A band of rain is moving across the upper South Island overnight Thursday, and a Warning for heavy rain in the ranges of Buller remains in force. This Watch is for the ranges of Nelson, particularly the Richmond Range, and also the Marlborough Sounds. Rainfall accumulations in these areas could approach warning criteria overnight Thursday and early Friday.
Additionally, a southerly change is expected to move across the lower North Island during Friday morning, with a burst of heavy rain. This Watch is for Wellington and the Kapiti Coast. The heaviest rain is expected to fall in a relatively short period, so although the warning criteria for heavy rain is not expected to be reached, localised downpours could result in surface flooding and make driving difficult.
